Having a power outage in the middle of winter was not ideal. Then again, nothing was as it should. Everything began going downhill when Adonis first emerged..or perhaps society had already began crumbling and the organization simply shone a spotlight onto the hidden rot, exposing it for what it was. Not that it justified the deaths and chaos left in their wake. It was inexcusable and they will be caught one way or another.

What was worse, the supernatural elements had also increased in severity and fed off the panic. So it was all the more reason that this cannot be allowed to continue. Kikyou could only imagine how gleeful the denizens of the dark were savouring this turbulent time in Japan's history. As such, it was unsurprising that she had been working overtime and had little time to spare to the problematic collar around her neck.

Given that it was safer to stay beneath watchful eyes and that time was running out, Kikyou had temporarily moved in with Aiji. Who knew what Adonis had planned next and it was decided to not take any chances.

So here she was, haggard after the umpteenth call for the night, sitting on the couch and trying to read through the documents on her lap via candlelight. Alas she didn't know when exactly she had nodded off, but she certainly awoke feeling something warm being draped across her tired, cold body.

Bleary eyed, she blinked slowly and looked upwards in an attempt to discern who it was. It should be obvious who it was..but considering her sleep deprived brain and stress as of late, it admittedly took a bit longer than normal. "Ah..you are still up ? Did I keep you waiting or were you working ?" A small yawn tumbled past her lips and a cold shiver ran down her spine as she pulled the blanket closer. "Thank you for the blanket. You are always so kind.", she smiled drowsily, the warmth attempting to lull her back to sleep. "Do you have another blanket for yourself ? If not, this is big enough to share or I can go without. Just do not freeze on my account..I would be quite angry.~"

Kikyou lifted the file she was reading, to peer down at the male who chose to use her lap as a cushion. Honestly, he was just like the cats he adored so much. So brazen~. However, she did not have the heart to move or make him remove himself from her lap. Earthen orbs studied his features and could tell that he has been working overtime to figure out Adonis's moves and clues..on top of his normal duties as a profiler.

Closing the file, she rested it aside and gently ran her fingers through those locks of his. Kikyou was silently grateful to be working alongside him and the others. Did she fear death by the collar attached to her neck? No. Aside from the fact that death was something she was desensitized to, she also had faith in the detectives she was working with. In particular, she trusted the male who was currently using her lap as his personal pillow.

So how can she disturb his rest when he was diligently doing his best ?

"Are you comfy there, Shiraishi ?", she asked softly, a hint of mirth trickling into her tone. Digits combed through his hair, in hopes of offering some comfort and relaxation to the overworked male. "If you need to sleep, then sleep. You cannot keep punishing your body in this way. Do I need to drag you to the couch or bed ? You know I will do it too.", she threatened playfully, knowing full well that it would be somewhat of a struggle.

it's relieving, to fall into such a familiar silence while walking home with kikyou, well aware of his responsibilities when it comes to the caretaking of luke, yet how even the most basic of manners seem to be on a tight string once the demon brothers are involved. her smile is bright enough to relax the once tense creasing of his shoulders, her gentle laughter a balm against the tense muscles embedded deep into his temple, he practically feels as though he's back walking on clouds instead of the snow that manages to flutter around them, an escorted trip back to the house of lamentation even if the party in the demon lords castle is well and truly in full swing.

he notices it before he presumes she does, the sprig of mistletoe that now rests above a now familiar door, definitely charmed by the way it seems to be floating above attached to any piece of stray wood, not unlike the candles he is more than familiar with floating inside. it's enough to have him chuckle, a strangely placed occurrence when paired with the matter of the weather being the last thing they have managed to talk about. even more so when paired with the matter of his hand interloping with her own, a gentle tug of their once slow stroll to a near stumble all the way right up to their doorway. only then can he choose to point up, a rather amused, childlike expression on his face ---- it is out of character, perhaps, for an angel to be so bold, but they both know the beginnings of the path he has chose. the freedom he seeks for the memories like this, times where he does not have to live with the regrets and the what if's.

❛ this is quite a predicament, ❜ he speaks as if it is a concern, but it is clear that it is isn't; not in the way he is already leaning closer, head to dip softly just above her skin. ❛ would you mind if i absolved us from it? ❜ his lips are even more gentle, to press the most delicate of kisses across her skin, firm despite the way it remains cold from the snow, from the speed and the rush he disturbed their casual affair to guide them here. / from simeon! <3

"Demons certainly know how to party. " she mused with a small chuckle, as they walked back home. The air was refreshing and crisp, the coldness stinging her flushed cheeks. After the dancing, drinking, singing and watching the chaos unfold, the quiet was a nice reprieve. Parties were really not her cup of tea, but how could she not attend?

Despite her proclivity towards quieter activities, she did have fun. And it was all thanks to the everyone. Perhaps she has been in Devildom a bit too long, because why was Raphael's threat of a Rain of Spears to Mammon amused her so ? Though that said, there were repercussions to stealing from Raphael. He ought to have known better.

Given the company that walked besides her, Kikyou permitted herself to partially indulge in thoughts about the night's events--perhaps more than she should have.

"Hm? Why are we at House of Lamentaton? " Perhaps it was out of habit, given how often they visited the brothers. Truthfully, they should have returned to Purgatory Hall, as that was where they both stayed. "Does Demonus even affect angels?", she asked Simeon, one part teasing and another out of curiosity. Though with that said..what was her excuse for not paying attention?

And as he surmised, she did not notice the mistletoe right away either. When she did..her cheeks turned a shade darker, especially with the way he was smiling..the closeness of their bodies..the intertwined fingers..Dark hues widened as she gazed at him in a mixture of bewilderment, shock and perhaps..a little anticipation. Though if asked, she would not be forthcoming.

Her heart beats quickened, the moment his lips began moving across her skin. Kikyou's breath was caught in her throat at the sensations incurred by the angel's mouth. Warmth stirred in her body, his cold mouth sending a pleasurable chill down her spine. His gentle kisses melting against her skin. "...Hah...Simeon..you know the traditional spot for mistletoes..is the lips..Just where are your lips going..", she murmured, her breathing growing a little uneven. "..You are more dangerous than the demons..it seems..", she grumbled softly, angling her head until her lips captured his to deliver a soft but sweet kiss.

❛  do you have any room for some company? ❜ it's not often either of them find themselves so available like this, free of the presence from those who look up to them, only company being another's soul and the littering of pen and paper around them ---- but today it seems .... both the detective and his company have time to spare for themselves rather than giving to the world around them. it's enough to make aiji smile, of course, something free in comparison to the strain that his hands bring after a day of writing or the becoming the centre of familiar antics and thus does he find himself letting out a sigh of relief as he leans against the edge of her desk, amusement the forefront of pupils as he dons the experience to take a look at her own personal work instead.

❛  most people would find it rather concerning to ask so late, but ... ❜ a hum, thoughtful, before aiji twists, full attention given despite the way his chest faces away. ❛  i would prefer someone to chat to. tonight out of all nights at least. ❜

“Hm? Oh sure. Go ahead..this is your office.”, she replied absentmindedly, barely hearing and processing what he had asked. Earthen browns skimmed the file in front of her before pausing, what he said finally sinking in.

In the short time that she has been acquainted with Aiiji, things have been exceedingly busy; leaving little room for conversation for anything more than work. Whether it was on purpose or not, it did not matter. Their work came first and solving the murders were top priority.. That and removing the collar around her neck. Kikyou resented the idea of having no control and being pushed into a situation where she was almost helpless. The collar also did not afford her any privacy, seeing as it appeared capable of listening in via its random interjections. Needless to say, it made investigations difficult. It was both helpful and unhelpful, infuriating in its nature.

She wondered whether the reason she had been targeted was because by her unorthodox methods, Kikyou would have brought their perverse game to an end far too quickly for their liken. Whatever  it may be, Kikyou had no intention of allowing them to continue their string of murders of corrupted cops and others. Those people did not deserve to die in such a manner..To her, the lives of the people mattered more than her own outcome. Kikyou did not fear death.

Glancing down at the massive files strewn on her desk, she closed the one in front of her and looked up at him. Dark orbs studied the man, noting his body language and even examining the aura he gave out.

Leaning back in her chair and went to rub her neck, only for her fingers to encounter the cold steel against her flesh. A sigh tumbled out and she nodded. “I could use a break.“ Taking a moment to stand, Kikyou stretched her supple body back and forward, trying to get rid of the stiffness that came with hours of combing through paperwork.

“This is the first time I believe, we will be speaking to each other without the others around.” Kikyou said this and paused, making sure Okazaki was not around. Unable to detect his familiar aura, she continued. “You have my attention and my company. While I do not mind offering it, I am curious as to why this particular night? Is it simply because the others are not around?”
